The following Terms govern use of the website aargonline.com (the ‘Website’). Please read them carefully because by registering with or visiting aargonline.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Definitions
- “Marks” means the trademarks or logos, used from time to time and belonging to us or a third party. The term “trademarks” shall, where the context admits, be deemed to include all logos.
- “Materials” are, to the extent it is protected copyright work, and are not expressly marked as “Third Party Property”, all texts, images, audio, video or any other type of media in any format, or any part of them, located in the Website. “Materials” do not include “Marks”.
- “Third Party Property” means all Marks, text, image, audio, video or any other type of media in any format, or any part of them, located in the Website and expressly marked as the copyright property of a third party.
- “We”, “our”, “us”, “AARG”, “Group” means Aerial Archaeology Research Group.
- “Website” means our website at aargonline.com.
aargonline.com is published by the Aerial Archaeology Research Group (The Shaftesbury Centre, Swindon SN2 2AZ, UK. Registered Charity no. SC023162). The following Terms and Conditions of Use, govern use by all users of the Website (each a “User”). Please read the following carefully because by using the Website you are irrevocably agreeing to fully abide by these Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Notice.
Membership and events refund and cancellation policy
Payment of the relevant fee must be received by the Aerial Archaeology Research Group at application / registration.
If payment is made by credit or debit card, the Aerial Archaeology Research Group (AARG) will use all reasonable endeavours to keep your credit or debit card details secure by the AARG and/or its nominated agents appointed to process such payments on behalf of the AARG. Please note that the AARG complies with the standards set by PayPal. Any refunds made in accordance with these Terms shall be made by bank transfer only.
Membership
AARG membership cannot be cancelled or refunded. By not renewing your membership by due date, you will no longer be a member. Your membership will run for a current year. If you wish to change your membership grade you can do this from your next renewal only. Renewed memberships need to be paid in full before the end of February.
Events
You can register to attend an “Event” (an Event may be in person or online) via our Website. In most instances, Events will only be available to Members of the AARG. Where this is the case, this will be specified on the page for that Event on our Website. Refunds will not apply to any event/event type, unless otherwise stated.
The fee for an Event (the “Fee“) will be displayed on our Website. Fees include VAT unless otherwise indicated.
Joining instructions: You will receive an email from the AARG with joining instructions in advance of the event.
The AARG sometimes films parts of the Conference and other events for wider dissemination. It is assumed that those attending the AARG Annual Meeting (whether in person or online) have no objection to being included in photography or video of the Event.
Cancellation and changes
Changes to the Event: The AARG reserves the right to make alterations to the programme, date and/or venue of the Event at any time without prior notice, but will make all reasonable endeavours to communicate this to participants. Attendees are responsible for ensuring their booking information is correct and up to date.
Cancellation by the AARG: The AARG reserves the right to cancel an Event at any time and at its sole discretion. In the case of such cancellation, the AARG will refund any Fees paid, direct to the attendee upon proof of purchase. This refund will be the full extent of the AARG’s liability to the attendee arising from such cancellation, minus any booking or administrative fee as appropriate. In the event of cancellation, the AARG will use reasonable endeavours (email) to alert those who have booked to attend an Event, and details of any cancellation will be posted on our Website. Attendees are responsible for checking this information before the Event.
Events outside of our control
The AARG shall not be liable for the delay or cancellation of an Event where this is caused by a Force Majeure Event. A Force Majeure Event is any circumstance outside our reasonable control and includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- flood, drought, earthquake or other natural disaster;
- epidemic or pandemic;
- terrorist attack, civil war, civil commotion or riots, war, threat of or preparation for war, armed conflict, imposition of sanctions, embargo, or breaking off of diplomatic relations;
- nuclear, chemical or biological contamination or sonic boom;
- any law or any action taken by a government or public authority, including without limitation imposing an export or import restriction, quota or prohibition;
- collapse of buildings, fire, explosion or accident;
- any labour or trade dispute, strikes, industrial action or lockouts; and
- interruption or failure of utility service.
Should We be prevented, hindered or delayed in or from performing any of our obligations under these Terms, our performance will be deemed to be suspended for the period that the Force Majeure Event continues. We will use our reasonable endeavours to find a solution by which our obligations under these Terms may be performed despite the Force Majeure Event. If the Force Majeure Event persists and We are required to cancel the Event, the AARG cancellation policy will apply.
Online Events
The AARG may choose to hold an Event fully or partially hosted online (an “Online Event“).
The AARG reserves the right to change an in-person Event (meaning a conference, seminar or course) to an Online Event if advice from the authorities suggests doing so (for example, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic). Attendees, speakers and exhibitors will be notified by email of any changes as soon as possible. If an attendee can no longer attend the Event, then the AARG cancellation policy will apply.
The AARG uses third party online platforms to host our Online Events. We are not liable for problems that occur as a result of use of such platforms. By registering for an Online Event, you agree to abide by the relevant online providers’ terms and conditions. In advance of the Online Event, the AARG will either directly share a URL of the meeting (for example, the Zoom meeting) with you or forward the meeting invitation to you. Online platforms provide the AARG with post-Online Event information on attendee participation and interaction (e.g. attendance, viewing numbers and Q&A and polls data). This data will be used for internal reporting. It will not be passed onto any third party.
Participation can be affected by local issues, such as internet access, and the AARG is not responsible for resolving these issues. We do not provide technical support and each attendee is responsible for setting up their equipment.
Any links to external resources or materials sent by speakers, exhibitors or other attendees via the platform are opened at the attendees’ own risk. We are not liable for any issues occurring from accessing these resources.
Online Events will be recorded and will be hosted on a Virtual Platform and / or the AARG website and/or an alternative online website (eg. YouTube) following the event.
Use of the website
We fully disclaim any liability in any way arising from, or is in any way related to the use of this website, for any action by visitor’s use or misuse of Materials, and for any damage that may occur to visitor or any third party in connection with the use or abuse of Materials from this website.
We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, as to the accuracy of Materials which shall at all times constitute work in progress which we may change without notice. We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of or reliance on Materials. We do not guarantee that this website will reach your expectations or that it will always function without errors or interruptions.
The Group is not responsible for any charges associated with accessing the Website including any computer equipment, Internet connections, or access software.
Links within our Website may lead to other websites. They are provided for convenience only. We have no control over other websites, and we fully disclaim all liability related to websites created by third parties. We do not sponsor, nor necessarily endorse or otherwise approve of any information or statements appearing in those websites.
We are not responsible to visitor or any third party for any resulting damages, whether direct or indirect, incidental or consequential, connected to or resulting from the use, misuse, or inability to use the website.
Users may download, view, copy, save, store or print out single copies of individual pages for their own personal and non-commercial use, scholarly, educational or scientific research or study. In addition, Users have the right to use, with appropriate credit, brief excerpts from the Website content in their own work for the above purposes.
Users agree not to remove, obscure or modify any copyright or proprietary notices, author attribution, disclaimer or any screen display as they appear on the Website. Users may not do anything to restrict or inhibit any other User’s access to or use of the Website.
If a User refuses or fails to abide by these Terms and Conditions or violates any other terms of this Agreement, the Group reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend or terminate their access to the Website immediately without notice, in addition to any other available remedies.
All trademarks, logos, product and company names are owned by the AARG or third parties. No permission is given in respect of the use of any such trademarks, logos, product or company names where such use may infringe the holder’s rights.
The entire contents of all material available through the Website are protected by copyright unless otherwise indicated.
Breach of these Terms and Conditions
When the Group considers that a breach of these Terms and Conditions has occurred, we may at our discretion take such action as we deem appropriate. Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions constitutes a material breach of the same on which you are permitted to use the Website, and may result in our taking all or any of the following actions:
- Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use the Website.
- Issue of a warning to you.
- Legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach.
- Further legal action against you.
- Disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as we reasonably feel is necessary or as required by law.
The Group excludes their liability for all action we may take in response to breaches of these Terms and Conditions. The actions described above are not limited, and the Society may take any other action it reasonably deems appropriate.
Privacy Notice
The Group recognises the importance of protecting the information it collects in the operation of the Website and will act in compliance with the Privacy Notice.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use shall be governed by UK law as if made and wholly performed in the UK and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.
